About Spur Haven Custom Turkey Calls
Who I am
My name is George H Quay IV. I come from a long line of woodworkers with a passion for beautiful and figured hardwoods. As a self-taught wood turner, I combined my love for turkey hunting with my love for wood turning and created my first calls back in 2004, under the name of Thundergut Custom Calls. In 2002, we built our first home next door to my cousin's property, which he called "GooseHaven". Since I was a turkey hunting fool, I thought it only appropriate to call our property SpurHaven.
Life, kids and work interrupted my call making (outside of calls for friends and family) over the years a few times, but I never lost the passion. In 2022, I got back to taking orders for calls and decided to change the name from Thundergut Customs to Spurhaven Customs, as an homage to the home and life we had built.
We have since moved into my childhood home and I have been dedicating more time to my craft, carrying on the family tradition of making beautiful things out of wood and making the best-sounding turkey calls that I can. If I won't put it into my vest, it goes right into the trash.
What I strive for
I love working with both domestic and exotic hardwoods. I see out call blanks that show character, figure and unique qualities. I turn those blanks into pure turkey calling instruments that you'd be proud to use in the woods, and to pass on to the next generation.
My guarantee: If you don't like your call upon receipt, I will give you your money back. If your call ever fails due to a manufacturer's defect, I will replace it.
